It is a micro, public-facing gallery located in the office window of Department of Land Economy – University of Cambridge Silver Street, Cambridge.
During 2020 The Window Project will invite a selection of artists to produce new site specific commissions for the space. Each intervention will be a unique response to the site both as a window and as the office to the Department of Land Economy, reflecting ideas of location, site intervention, environment, ecology and economy.
The project will also provide valuable experience for CSA art students to collaborate with the lead artist in the development and realisation of each installation.
Longer term, The Window Project aims to become a new way of creating unexpected visual encounters with experimental art across the city, to delight, inform and challenge passers-by away from the conventional gallery setting.
This collaboration develops and builds upon ‘The Window at Silver Street – a pop-up art space for experimental and contemporary art in Cambridge’ as originally devised and led by Art Language Location, since 2018.
